Chipinge residents are in shock after a horrifying case of domestic violence in Mwasaya Village, where a 54-year-old man viciously assaulted his 93-year-old father in the dead of night.
The terrifying incident unfolded on February 23, 2025, around 1:00 AM when the son, reportedly intoxicated, stormed into his elderly fatherโs home, shouting angrily. In a violent rage, he allegedly brandished a machete, slashed household items, and then turned his fury on his helpless father. Witnesses say he struck the elderly man on the head with a metal object, leaving him with a deep and bloody wound.

The frail victim, whose injuries were later confirmed in a medical report, miraculously survived the brutal attack. The attacker, an unemployed man residing in the same village, was swiftly arrested and dragged before the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court. He was convicted of domestic violence and sentenced to 210 hours of community serviceโ a verdict that has left many questioning whether justice was truly served for the elderly victim.
